Article summary

When creating images for In-App Messages, you want to aim for a 3:1 ratio so it fits as expected in most screens. For example:

  • 300px wide x 100px high
  • 600px wide x 200px high
  • 900px wide x 300px high

If the image you're uploading to Copilot.cx isn't quite the right size, you can follow these steps to resize it in Preview:

  1. Make a copy of your image (you'll see why in step 5)
  2. Double-click on one of your image files to open it in Preview
  3. Click the Show Markup Toolbar button to the left of the search box to show the editing tools
  4. Click the Adjust Size button to open the image resizing pop-up, enter a width and height that match the 3:1 ratio, then click OK (don't worry if it looks a bit warped, we're about to fix that)
  5. Open the other image in Preview and take a screenshot of a small space that only shows the background color (for example, the top-left corner of the image)
  6. Paste this into your resized image and expand it to fill the space
  7. Go back to your other image and take a screenshot of the content (for example, your logo or a picture of your device)
  8. Paste this into your resized image and adjust the size and placement until you're happy
  9. Click OK, save your resized image, and upload it to Copilot.cx
