Article summary

There's nothing worse than sending an in-app message to thousands of users only to find that there's a typo or the call to action is pointing to the wrong place.

Before sending any in-app message, we always recommend testing it at least once. This is useful for making sure it looks the part, but it can also be helpful for checking that your in-app will appear in the right place.

Here's how you test an in-app message in Copilot.cx in a few simple steps:

  1. Copy the user ID to your clipboard. Go to "Users & Devices" > "Support" in the menu, search for the user who you want to test your in-app message, and copy their user ID.
  2. Click "Send Test" in the bottom corner of the In App Message Editor. A pop-up will appear with a box for you to paste in the user ID.
  3. Choose whether you want to ignore the trigger. If you're only testing what your in-app message looks like, check this box. But if you also want to test that the message appears on the right screen, leave it unchecked.
  4. Click "Send Test". Before jumping into the app, close it, remove it from your recent apps list, and wait 30 seconds. This helps to restart the app properly to make sure the in-app message appears.
