Article summary

An In-App Message is a native pop-up that appears while a user is actively using your app.

Unlike email, In-App Messages don't include or rely on personal identifiable information (PII). This means you can send them to everyone, including anonymous users.

In-App Messages convert 10x better than email

Our testing shows that In-App Messages have a 10x higher clickthrough rate (CTR) than email.

This is for two important reasons:

  1. The user is already in your app and engaging with your product, so they're in the right headspace to act.
  2. The level of effort required to take the user from what they're doing to what you want them to do is very low.

When to use In-App Messages

In-App Messages are one of the most versatile and effective communication channels for consumer electronics brands.

Here are three common examples of how you can use them:

  • Promote a new feature – Your In-App Message can appear on exactly the right screen, increasing the chances of conversion. For a smart bulb brand, this could appear on the day-and-night routine screen with a video showing how to create your first routine.
  • Drive product and app ratings – Send a rating pop-up after a user experiences a key moment of delight. For a fitness tracker brand, this could be when the user beats their step target.
  • Sell more products – Offer discounts on new products or replenishables at just the right time. For a printer brand, this could be when the user runs out of ink.

Control In-Apps with Copilot.cx

Copilot.cx includes a software development kit (SDK) that you can add to your app. This allows your marketing team to control In-App Messages dynamically through the Copilot.cx platform.

This includes things like:

  • Events – the exact trigger that will cause an In-App Message to appear
  • Style – the colors and fonts used in your In-App Messages
  • Calls to action – the screen or store you'll send users to when they click on the button
