Strategies for ramping up users from onboarding to cruising
When a customer buys a new IoT product, you have a limited window to get them ramped up – we call this "30 days of interest".
Ramp up is a vital stage that aims takes new customers from technical onboarding to cruising users within this timeframe. It incorporates all the key components of a successful user journey and customer experience.
Once you've figured out what constitutes a move from new to cruising user, you need to help users get the most out of your product without overwhelming them. This can be a dynamic and delicate balancing act.
Here are some of the key strategies you'll use to get your users ramped up:
- Welcome email: give users a warm welcome to your product and brand, making them feel that they've made a good decision.
- Feature adoption: identify and promote the critical initial features that help your users experience value.
- Educational campaigns: send out educational campaigns to help users experience the right features in the right order – after all, there's no point promoting advanced features if your users haven't even got to grips with the basics yet.
On that last point, here's a quick example: if your product is a smart printer, there's no point pushing users towards smart editing features if they still haven't printed their first photo.
